Symbol

Defintition: A symbol is a message that is put in the poem to express the authors feelings.

Example: Rose, thou art sick!

                The invisible worm

                That flies in the night,

                In the howling storm,

                Has found out thy bed

               Of crimson joy:

               And his dark secret love

               Does thy life destroy.
Significace: It lets you know how the author was feeling when he or she made the poem.
